Summary of the role
We have an exciting role for a Senior Operational Controls Consultant. The role leads and delivers first line operational controls for the business. Designing, maintaining and testing controls frameworks, monitoring control effectiveness and diagnosing root cause and driving remediation. This will include driving forward the required activities to ensure compliance with the risk framework and methodology, providing support and challenge to line 1 control owners and providing control input into key projects and initiatives.
  
The role involves coaching and upskilling control owners and acting as the bridge between operational teams and the Controls Transformation business partner. The Senior Operational Controls Consultant will deputise as required for the Controls Transformation Business Partner and will attend and present at governance meetings as required and manage relationships with key stakeholders. 
  
What you’ll be doing
  • Develop, update and document first line control policies and procedures.
  • Plan and perform regular control testing to validate effectiveness of controls.
  • Produce and maintain dashboards and MI including control effectiveness and what actions are being taking to improve the control environment.
  • Investigate control failures, drive remediation plans and track closure.
  • Train and mentor control owners to sustain controls performance.
  • Ensure key Operational controls are sufficiently documented within Risk Management system at an appropriate level by the control owner.
  • Ensure Operational controls are mapped to the appropriate risks including mapping to Level 2 Taxonomy Risks.
  • Monitor Risk Events and near misses, including escalating as required and ensuring appropriate action plans are in place by focusing on the control environment, that as an organisation we learn from failings and controls are strengthened.
  • Set Direction for control improvements and ensure these are tracked to closure within Risk Management System for all functions.
