We know attending an interview can be daunting, especially if you've not attended one for a while. We want to support you to succeed and hope you find this useful to help prepare. This is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and experiences.
What to expect
Depending on the role, you may have several interviews.
Typically, the in-person interview process will consist of:
- Welcome and walk around the office, so you can get a feel for where you might be working.
- Interview questions focused on skills, behaviours, experiences and decision-making.
- Your chance to ask us questions and learn more about our colleagues' experiences.
The recruitment team will inform you if multiple interviews or assessments are required.
Preparation is key
Do your research: it's good to have some knowledge of who we are, our key clients, products and services.
We'd love you to share specific, real-life examples of your knowledge and experiences. Think about your key skills, any challenges you've experienced and overcome, and the situations you've learnt from.
Reach for the STAR technique!
The STAR technique is a structured method for answering interview questions that helps you provide clear, focused responses by outlining your experiences and achievements, making it easier for interviewers to understand your skills and the value you bring.
STAR stands for:
- Situation: Describe the context or background. What was the situation? Where and when did it take place?
- Task: Explain the specific challenge, responsibility, or goal you were facing.
- Action: The specific steps you took to address the situation or complete the task.
- Result: Share the outcome of your actions. What did you achieve? What was the impact? If possible, use measurable results.
Plan your journey
Depending on the location of your interview, there may be parking on site or public transport drop-off nearby. Please speak to the Recruitment Team who will give you further information.
What to wear
We don't have a formal dress code but expect colleagues to dress for their day using reasonable judgement in their choice of clothing and appearance.
All the help you need
- It's natural to be nervous; being well prepared, taking some deep breaths, and taking your time can all help. Don't be afraid to ask your interviewer to repeat a question. If you'd like to take notes into the interview with you, that's fine too.
- We welcome candidates to arrive 30 minutes before your interview to look through the interview questions and prepare your answers. Please let the Recruitment Team know if you would like to do this.
- If you require any reasonable adjustments to help you share the best version of yourself throughout our interview process, just let us know.
